intuition, elimination

If you are blessed with great intuition, you might have a strong inkling as to what type of food is causing you digestive distress. Digestive discomfort can come in many different forms, be it bloating, mild cramps or even severe abdominal pain shortly after eating. Other signs might come in the form of a rash, acne or even joint pain or headaches.

There are times when you just deep down know what the likely culprit is when it comes to discovering if it is something you are ingesting that's causing any of the above symptoms. However, there is a handy procedure to follow when you are finding it more difficult to nail down the possible causes and it comes in the form of an elimination diet.

It's always best to undertake any such experimental diet with the guidance of a qualified nutritional therapist or a dietician, but the idea is that certain foods or food groups are temporarily removed from the diet and then slowly reintroduced, one at a time. This can help to more clearly identify potential triggers or symptoms.

As everyone’s food triggers are different, what troubles one person may be fine for another. An elimination diet is tailored to your body rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. It can also help you to better understand how your body reacts to different foods. Building long-term awareness of what makes you thrive and what could be getting in the way can feel very empowering.

Failing that, let your intuition guide you and opt out of consuming what you feel might be the culprit to see if symptoms ease.
